Tandoori Chicken

Juicy Tandoori Chicken baked in the oven is a delicious, easy recipe perfect for dinner served with rice and salad.

How to make Tandoori Chicken

Preheat the oven and the broiler (oven grill) to its hottest temperature. Place marinated chicken, skin-side up on a baking dish. Place the chicken in the oven and allow to bake 40 minutes or until the chicken is starting to char and is cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes.

Can I make this recipe with another cut of chicken?

Yes, you can use chicken breast, and the cooking time will just need to be adjusted.

You will need:

  • chicken pieces
  • 300 ml plain yogurt
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed
  • 95 grams tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp ground cilantro
  • 1 tbsp sweet paprika
  • 2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground ginger or fresh and grated ginger
  • salt and pepper


  1. Stir all the spices with yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and tomato puree.
  2. Rub the marinade well into the chicken. Let the chicken marinate for 2 to 3 hours or from the evening before eating.
  3. Put the marinated chicken in an ovenproof dish and bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until cooked through at 175°C.
  4. Serve chicken with rice and fresh salad.
