You will need:

For the soft onions

  • 4 large onions, peeled and sliced into rings
  • 25 grams butter

For the pan-fried beef

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • salt and pepper
  • butter, for frying

For the brown pan sauce

  • fat from the pan + 20 grams butter
  • 1 to 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 pc beef broth cube
  • 200 ml hot water or water from potatoes
  • salt and pepper
  • brown color

  • 500 grams to 1 kg potatoes

For the potatoes

  1. Peel the potatoes and put them in a saucepan. Cover them completely with water. Once boiling, let the potatoes cook for 20 minutes or until a knife or fork sinks down without too much resistance. This about how boiled potatoes tend to feel when you cut them at the table. This is how they should feel.

For the soft onions

  1. Heat the butter in a frying pan and brown the onion rings in the butter. When the onions are soft and light brown, take them off the heat and set them aside.

For the beef

  1. Meanwhile, shape the meat into 3 to 4 equal-sized ground beef, then seasoned well with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Using the same pan (without cleaning it after the onions), heat the butter and fry the beef for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, until slightly pink or well done, depending on your taste. Take the beef off and set them aside.

For the pan brown sauce

  1. Using the same pan, heat the butter, then add the beef broth cube and stir to dissolve.
  2. Add flour, stir and cook until slightly thickened. Then add hot water or water from boiled potatoes and let the mixture simmer for minutes.
  3. Add the brown color and taste with salt and pepper.

  1. Serve the ground beef with brown sauce. Place the soft onions on top of the beef and served with boiled potatoes and cucumber salad.
